Agricultural Museum Clean Up and Barbecue 

SAA volunteered at this historical site that features antique farm equipment, demonstrations, a living history program, 19th century wagons and a working blacksmith shop. The SAA Spring barbecue followed immediately.

Alumnae Career Chat

SAA hosted an alumnae panel during the Women's Empowerment Conference. Alumnae shared their insight and experiences at UC Merced.

A career panel helped students (and interested alumni) learn about opportunities available for students who are interested in getting research jobs on campus.

Bobcat Day Trivia 

Teams of students and alumni were formed at random and pitted against each other to battle through multiple rounds of trivia. The event offered the opportunity for interaction, fun and informal networking. Prizes were awarded to the winning teams!

Bobcat Trivia 2.0

A battle of Bobcats as teams of students and alumni were put against each other in various rounds that tested their knowledge. Winning teams were awarded prizes and bragging rights! 

CATSPOTS Highlight: Jantz Cafe

SAA hosted Jantz Cafe on campus. Jantz Cafe handed out free brownies and coupons to students encouraging them to check out the bakery's wide selection of breakfast, lunch and baked items.

CATSPOTS Highlight: Kewl Cats Karaoke

SAA hosted CATSPOTS Business Kewl Cats on campus. Kewl Cats came out to the dining commons and set up a karaoke machine open to all students.

Ctrl+Alt+DelEAT: Reboot for Finals

SAA handed out free food and drinks to students in the midst of finals. This event was possible with the help of the SJVUC Alumni Network.

PREP: Employer's Point of View

A behind-the-scenes look at what employers look for on resumes and interviews. Presented by Rubi Turner, employment analyst with UC Merced Human Resources.

End-of-the-Year Banquet

Our first end-of-the-year banquet celebrated SAA's successful year! The banquet started with a networking reception with alumni, followed by an awards ceremony. The ceremony included dinner, an introduction of next year’s SAA Leadership and remarks from campus leaders.

Friendship Day 

SAA hosted Friendship Day in order to bring light to the MSSM Friendship Scholarship Foundation. Friendship cookies were sold to support the foundation. There was various booths for students to do activities.

#GivingTuesdayUCMerced

All support of select scholarship funds on December 2 was matched 3:1. 

LinkedIn Workshop

Director of Alumni Relations Heather Wilensky shared her insight on how a professional LinkedIn profile should look and how to correctly use LinkedIn to get the most out of the professional networking site.

Past and Present: Presidents and Pioneers

The event gathered current student leadership and former founders, presidents and pioneers for a unique networking opportunity. Past & Present: Presidents and Pioneers was held in conjunction with homecoming activities.

Past & Present Presidents Dinner 

The event gathered current student leadership and former founders and presidents for an opportunity to network amongst each other. This event was sponsored by the Margo F. Souza Leadership Center. 

PREP: Email Etiquette

SAA Leadership hosted the first event in the PREP Series. Leadership shared tips on how to write a professional email and showed examples of what bad email looks like.

PREP: Resume Workshop

Daryl Fitzgerald from the Center for Career and Professional Advancement presented a resume workshop for SAA members. He shared tips and tricks to make resumes unique and stand out from the rest.

Promise for Education: Ice Cream Event

SAA handed out free ice cream to students who had created a promise in the Promise for Education Campaign. Computers were set up on site for students to create promises on the spot.

Promise for Education: Leggo My Eggo-cy

SAA handed out free Eggo waffles and hot chocolate to students while giving them the opportunity to learn about the Promise for Education Campaign and the importance of leaving a legacy on campus.

Relay for Life

SAA helped raise much-needed funds and awareness to save lives from cancer through the Relay For Life movement. Relay for Life was a 24-hour event hosted at Merced College.

SAA Barbecue

SAA hosted its first barbecue at Bob Carpenter Park in Merced. The day consisted of good food, tie-dye activities and a friendly, competitive game of football.

Social at the Sculpture 

SAA hosted a social at the New Beginnings Sculpture allowing current students to mix and mingle with UC Merced Alumni. Ice Cream and Frisbees were passed out.

Thank-A-Thon

Thank-a-thon is an annual opportunity for students to thank our UC Merced donors for their contributions to our education. Students wrote more than 1,000 thank-you cards to donors while enjoying free pizza and snacks.

Thanksgiving Feast

This Thanksgiving Feast fundraiser was a great opportunity for students, staff and faculty members to thank those people on campus who go above and beyond in support of their UC Merced journeys by sharing a Thanksgiving meal together.
